Pool Maintenance and Service Tips |
![]() Keep Debris Out
Keeping debris out of your swimming pool/spa is probably the number one most important thing you can do increase your swimming pool's longevity and cleanliness. Cleaning out debris makes your filter's job much easier, so that you don't have to worry about cleaning the pool filter as often. Removing debris also help prevent the buildup of algae on the pool walls and floor. This should be done as often as needed. Check your Filter Did you know that you should inspect your filter at least once a month? Filter cleaning can be a pain, that's why it is included in our premium routine cleaning services. Your swimming pool filter should be run for about 8 hours a day and should be cleaned monthly. Check your Water Level The rule of thumb here is to keep the water level about half way up to the opening of your skimmer. Don't worry though if the water level gets low, it is a perfect time for our pool tile cleaning service. To get back up to the proper water level, you can simply add water from your garden hose. If you have just a bit too much water, you can let evaporation do the work. Depending on the size of your pool and the weather, your water level will decrease roughly 1/4"-1/2" per day. Check your Pump Make sure to never spray water near the motor of your pool pump. On that note, you should also make sure that the motor is is protected from rain, wet spots, and damp areas. There should also be enough room for air to circulate. Also, the region around the motor should be free of debris. If you're having problems with your pump, our friendly technicians can diagnose and repair common problems. If we can't repair your pump, we will refer you to our industry partners who specialize in these services. |
Is it Cheaper to Clean Your Own Pool? |
You may be asking yourself if it's cheaper to hire a technician or manage pool cleaning yourself. You may also be wondering if an automatic cleaner can do the job for you. The answer might surprise you; we like automatic cleaners too! Automatic cleaners can do a great job in keeping the floor and walls of your pool clean.
But there are still some things that robotic cleaners don't do well. Before we talk about these limitations, we should probably clarify what an automatic pool cleaner is. There are basically three types of automatic cleaners: suction, pressure, and robotic cleaners.
|
The downside to all of these cleaners is that they still need regular maintenance and attention to do their jobs. For example, both pressure and robotic cleaners require you to regularly clean their filters. The biggest downside, however, is that robotic cleaners can't remove debris from your pool deck. This is the number one source of debris entering your pool. In addition, cleaning the walls and floors is only one part of proper pool care. This equipment can't check your filter, chemical levels, and other equipment.
So while we do think that automatic pool cleaners do a good job, they can't replace the quality service of a professional pool care expert. But if you currently use an automatic cleaner, we are happy to supplement with additional services.
